Fire Attack on TCN Station In Benin

The station of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on Sunday went up in flames on Sapele road, Benin City, forcing some parts of the city into darkness.

The incident has plunged most of the areas in the state into darkness as the areas that are known for enjoying nine hours electricity daily, is now left with no choice but to endure darkness.
Hotgist24/7 understands that the inferno started from a transformer in the area, although the cause of the transformer flaming up is still yet to be ascertained.
Officials of the Edo State Fire Service and other fire service stations battled to quell the fire.
Spokesman for the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), Tayo Adekunle could not be reached for comments but a worker, who pleaded for anonymity, said all areas connected to the Benin TCN were affected due to a partial system collapse.
He informed that the TCN sub-station is interconnected to other TCN locations across the country.
He also added...
“...The specific locations affected by the fire are still unknown, but major parts of Edo State would be affected by the outage"
